Parliamentary question by the Hon Chan Kam-lam and a reply by the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Professor K C Chan, in the Legislative Council. In the reply, the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury said virtual currencies such as bitcoin are not considered legal tender but are virtual commodities in Hong Kong, and warned about the risks of using virtual currencies.
